Nelum Jayakody

Nelum Jayakody is a passionate and dedicated teacher of Mindfulness eager to help others experience the life enhancing benefits of mindfulness meditation. Having completed the relevant teacher training (outlined below), together with extensive personal practice, Nelum is fully qualified to teach Mindfulness programmes for adults and children.

Sri Lankan born Nelum, a former banker, discovered Mindfulness in 2008. After years working in a highly stressful environment and having faced difficult personal circumstances, Nelum is no stranger to the effect that stress and suffering can have on the body. Fibromyalgia was diagnosed together with chronic stomach pain. The adoption of a mindfulness lifestyle, as advocated by the MBSR programme, led to the almost complete disappearance of physical symptoms. This was the turning point in her life; leaving the corporate life behind, Nelum embarked on her mindfulness teaching journey.

During her free time, Nelum continues to deepen her expertise of Mindfulness by attending regular Vipassana retreats.

Helping children who face poverty and crisis is a cause close to Nelum’s heart and she is involved in projects to improve their life chances and well-being. Such projects include responding to the needs of those displaced in the aftermath of the Tsunami of 2004 and ongoing work with terminally ill children in Sri Lanka.
