Vipassana (insight) Meditation
The general response to thoughts and emotions tend towards ‘flight’ or ‘fight’ reactions; a ‘sympathetic’ reaction to everyday phenomena.
Vipassana practice teaches practitioners how to observe thoughts and emotions as they rise, continue and fade away, and, to train the mind to observe the nature of things in a balanced way; a ‘para-sympathetic’ reaction to everyday phenomena. Vippassana teaches practitioners to observe everyday phenomena as they are the true nature of everything; in other words things are the way they are.
- Vipassana Level One course teaches 16 techniques of mindfulness during the 4 week course. The course highlights how the breathing practice brings a deeper awareness and mindfulness of the body, thoughts, feelings and mental phenomena to deal with everyday phenomena.
- Level Two course is only for those who have completed Vipassana Level 1.
- Level Three course is only for those who have completed Vipassana Level 2.
Practitioners are invited to practice standing or floor Yoga before Vipassana sessions. Time will also be set aside for discussions after each session.
